Custom Handwound Replacement Vintage & Modern P90 Pickups
Larger and richer than standard single coils, my replacement P90 Soapbar, Dogear & Casino Replacement pickups are based on both vintage & modern designs. With moulded cream, white or black covers, or correct chrome or nickel plated metal Casino covers, you'll find replacement P90 pickups to suit your tone.
I don't have pickups all boxed up ready to send out, each order is custom made so I can tailor the specifications to suit your guitar, tone or style of playing.
I also make a couple of P90 Sized Humbucker designs too.
If you're after a custom set of replacement P90 pickups, just get in touch with the kind of voice/tone/output you're after and we can take it from there.

Magnets Alnico 2, 3, 4 or 5 Coil Wire 42AWG Lead Wire Vintage Braided Bridge Output 7.5k Neck Output 7.1k Based on the Early '50s P90
Dogear or Soapbar
A lower vintage output, less attacking pickup but with a wide dynamic range. This is my brighter P90 similar to those old pickups of the early '50s. Fatter in tone than a single coil. Still with that fat P90 sound, great for warm clean tones part way between a single-coil and humbucker the Classic '53 P90 pickup won't drive an amp as much as my Classic '57 P90. The Alnico 2 being a slightly weaker magnet than the 4 or 5, gives a warmer, more vintage style tone. A great P90 pickup for those jazzier sounds. Alnico 4 is a little clearer than the Alnico 2 but ever so slightly warmer than the Alnico 5. The Alnico 5 magnets give a great bright P90 single-coil attack.

Dogear or Soapbar
A higher output than my Classic '53 giving that large fat P90 full-bodied drive & tone yet still keeping the warmth with real attack, grunt and definition. A great lead P90 sound for a bridge position pickup, sweet warmth in the neck. Single conductor, braided shield lead wire. Available in black or cream P90 pickup covers, dog-ear or soapbar.

Magnets Alnico 5 Coil Wire 42AWG Lead Wire Vintage Braided Bridge Output 8.3k Neck Output 7.5k Upgrade your modern reissue Casino Pickups
Modern stock reissue Casino pickups can have a very high output, around 12k-13k in the Bridge & around 11k-12k in the Neck, an unsubtle set especially for a Hollow Body guitar. I can upgrade your existing Casino pickups to a more vintage design with new magnets and a lower output handwound coil based on my Classic '61 Casino Pickups above.
Simply order the upgrade and send me your current pickups. I'll upgrade them to a more vintage spec and send them right back.

P90 12-Pole

Magnets Alnico 2 or 5 Coil Wire 43AWG Lead Wire Vintage Braided or 4-way Bridge Output 12.0k Neck Output 10.3k 12 Pole Humbucker in a P90 Size
A 12-pole humbucker pickup inside a P90 that requires no modifications to your guitar at all. My P90 sized Humbuckers even look like a P90 - Once installed, no-one will spot the difference until you plug in and play.
Great string definition & clarity due to the 12 pole magnets. More of a crunchy tone than the fat single coil voice of my classic P90, these new P90 sized Humbucker Pickups give a rich, biting attack.
All the depth of a humbucker with the sparkle of a single coil. The two, thin 43awg coils help to keep the brightness at higher output while the tone is warmed by the design of the pickup.
I use the thinner 43AWG coil wire on this design which means the actual perceived volume will be lower than the high output would suggest, namely around 9.5k Bridge & 8.3k Neck.

Sonic-Six

Magnets Threaded Alnico 5 Coil Wire 42AWG or 43AWG Lead Wire Vintage Braided Bridge Output 7.5k, 8.4k or 12.0k Neck Output 7.1k, 7.5k or 9.2k Fat, Bright, Attacking Single Coil Tone
Dogear or Soapbar
Available in three outputs, a brighter, low-output version of 7.5k Bridge & 7.1k Neck, a mid-output set of 8.4k Bridge & 7.5k Neck and a fatter, hotter 12.0k Bridge & 9.2k Neck. Similar in appearance and the exact same size as a standard P90, the Sonic-Six P90 pickup has individual threaded magnets to keep more tonal clarity & string definition. The lower & medium output version use specific 42AWG coil wire to give a fatter single coil but with more brightness and less warmth than a standard P90. The higher output version uses specific 43AWG coil wire to balance output whist still keeping clarity & that fat brightness and attacking single-coil tone.
I've spent a lot on these, changing the size of the Alnico 5 threaded magnets and bobbin size a number of times to get these right. If you're after that bright, fat twang tone from a standard P90 size pickup then the Creamery Sonic-Six pickups may be the ones for you.
Available as a Soapbar style in Aged White (cream), black or chrome-plated covers or as a Dogear style in Aged White (Cream) or Black covers. Vintage braided wire.

Reviews of my Handwound P90 Pickups
Great stuff. Thanks so much!! They’re a massive improvement! I’m not generally a P90 guy, but they sound fantastic. That syrupy Another Brick in the Wall solo tone is just right there.. :D

Just wanted to say thanks for the work done on this fantastic neck P90. The Alnico 4 & the low vintage wind matches perfectly with the TV jones Classic in the bridge. I've tried a few P90's in the guitar and this is one that finally gives it the voice it deserves. Plummy / flutey on its own and THE perfect rhythm sound when mixed with the humbucker, seriously couldn't be happier with it.
